Glossary
Hyperoxia
A state of higher-than-normal oxygen levels in tissue.
Hyperoxia is an elevated oxygen level in the blood and tissues, the therapeutic state HBOT creates. Controlled, intermittent hyperoxia drives healing signals; excessive, prolonged hyperoxia risks oxygen toxicity, which is why protocols are dose-limited.
